An Upcycled Monthly Make..

..for me! I have been trying to get my hands on a couple of chapel chairs for ages but they can be very expensive and regularly fetch up to £80 a piece on ebay! I could not believe my luck when a 'buy it now' for £40 for not one but three came up and quickly made them mine!

I desperately wanted chair with the bible holder on the back and so was delighted with the lighter two but when I collected them I could see that the darker chair had a gorgeous kneeling pad holder - fabulous!!

Please excuse the mess in my lounge, I am having work done and the whole house is a bomb site! Here are the chairs painted and distressed - this bit was easy, I just showed the chairs my fat arse and they came over all distressed with me having to do any work with them!

I used a paint that is completely new to me! This paint is bloody amazing and is the laziest paint I have ever used! There is **NO** prep, and it even paints directly on to waxed, formica or varnished surfaces! Just dust any dirt and then paint! UNBELIEVABLE!!! It costs £16.95 per litre and covers in one coat so each chair used under and inch of paint from the tin! It also drys in about 10 minutes!

I am so in love with this paint! What do you think of my monthly make!

Wow that paint is amazing. I must try it (don't know on what yet!) I have a nice kitchen table but the Ikea chairs have worn badly and need replacing. I hadn't thought of looking for chapel chairs. They are lovely, simple and solid.

Love the chairs. Lucky you to find such bargains. So much more fun than new chairs. I've a cupboard to repaint, so thanks for the tip about the paint.

Brilliant find! I love getting lucky on EBay... Rare but it does happen.

Will have to source me some of that paint. My prep generally involves making a cup of tea and blowing the really big dirt off. I paint dust etc down. Have always got away with it. But to be able to paint this nasty chipped Ikea furniture I have been hating the look (but not the shape) off without priming it, well, you have just made my day!!!

That paint is a new one on me and the chairs are fantastic. I wonder how hard wearing it is as I have a little job that it would look really good on. Many thanks for the info.

Will nab that idea for paint as can't be bothered with all that sanding down business. xx

The chairs are beautiful -the paint is amazing and I am now ready to take the plunge on my rubber wood (pine look) dresser this Summer - have been dithering over this chalk paint but seeing how easy you have found it am very encouraged.

ahh lovely lovely :D I've been wanting to try chalk paint for a while after seeing it on kirstie's homemade home! Sadly I went for some standard gloss in a lovely pink colour which I couldnt find in chalk options, but this method takes FOREVER and I still haven't finished painting my tables with it! xxx
